How to travel across India with almost no money

If you love to live your life to the fullest and blow your stress away, you must love travelling and exploring new places. You must have read travel quotes saying that travelling cleanses the soul. Even if you cannot afford a trip to famous destinations worldwide, India has many exotic places to offer. Goa, Manali, Darjeeling, Tripura, Mussoorie, Kashmir, and Kerela are some of the most popular travel destinations in India.

If you want to travel to these places without burning a hole in your pocket, you can do what I did. Our country allows us to move within the country, and hence you do not need much money to travel. If you are comfortable with a bit of discomfort, you can make the memories you want in the places you will fall for.

Four Ways to Travel for Free

Hitch Hiking-

If you don’t have the money to take your own vehicle on the trip, just get on someone else’s. Hitchhiking is not so common in India, but a lot of people do it. And I’ve seen them on the roads, I’ve been on the roads. It does not just get you to your destination; it is a whole new experience. You get to see the world from a new perspective.

As per my opinion, backpacking is the right way to travel. You put all you need in a pack and carry it. You see the world in a way you had not before. You learn to manage the resources and know the location more than you think of it. For example, you would see Kerela and its exotic beaches on a leisure trip while sipping on a coconut. On the other hand, while backpacking, you will know how those coconuts are grown and how the natives live there.

Airbnb Experience

Airbnb experience is a program hosted by locals. You get to indulge in activities arranged by locals to showcase their heritage. Unlike tours, it offers you much more, including the popular movements around the area. Hosts are full of passion and have a unique perspective. You need to review your experience with Airbnb, and they will take care of your expenses.

A lot of Companies and awareness programmes pay you to travel to remote places. The condition is that you carry accessories that will promote their brand. You must have seen people on bicycles or bikes with t-shirts to promote the “Go Green” campaign of a specific company or some other like this. You can also volunteer for such programmes and get paid for travelling.

Now that you reach your location, another thing that costs a lot is hotels. Especially in hill stations and beaches. Given below are a few options that you can explore:

You can carry your own tent and find a safe location with excess freshwater. Make sure that your tent is built before the sun goes down. Camping becomes much easier and exciting if you are travelling in a group.

There are several hostels and dormitories that rent beds for nights in places that attract many tourists. Do your research before you set out and find the hostel that suits you.

Airbnb Experience

Already explained above.

Travelling is not about staying at fancy hotels and flying to the destination. It is about the experience new places has to offer and the beauty that sets in. It does not take a lot of money to travel but a lot of adrenaline. Set out in the world and embrace it.
